I paying for hydro still?? Not too sure what's been going on, but
the Abattoir's been under attack by power failures for the last 4 days!
2 blackouts we managed to cruise right through with the Abattoir's back-up
systems, but two of them (...today's being the second...) were just
too long (...6 hours!...) for the back-up juice to hold out!
Nice to come home to every UPS in the joint honking for attention!
Damned, warm beer and no power for the computer, what's next!!? Sorry
to all who couldn't get on the Abattoir... Time to get these UPS's
connected to 20 truck batteries! Muahahaha...
Okay,
BTM4, let's get
on it people, I know a whack of you are coming, but remember, you have
to book... Let me know
if you're in!

Doh!!
How dumb am I!? I didn't even realize the next scheduled BTM
is on a long weekend! (...pick-up a newspaper, pal!..)
Sorry if this causes any inconveniences, but we're shifting BTM4
to Saturday, September 12th! Please make a note of the date change,
and again, sorry if this screws you up!

Friday
again, wow did this week slam by at light speed! BTM4
is coming-up a little faster then I thought, time to get your names in
people, we like to know a little in advance how many spots we have!!
Looks like Brandon won't be moving off to BC just yet, so he's in for one
more! :) If you want to join in (...or if this is your first time
on the Abattoir, check the LAN Party and Reservations pages for more details...)
let me know, all you need is
your PC and your body. If you've never been to a LAN Party, you really
should give it a try, it's a great way to play a few games and blow-away
a day!

MeatMan's
a happy camper now! (...no Quake pun intended!...) I finally grabbed
a digital camera!! Picked-up the new Sony Digital Mavica (MVC-FD71).
What a great camera, it's best feature is that it actually has a 2x 3.5"
disk drive in it!! Hold up to 40 shots on a single .50 cent floppy,
and transport it into any computer without that machine having special
camera download software! What a great idea, no? So, looks
like I'll be able to publish BTM4's
shots that same night (...hypothetically that is, under the assumption
I'm still conscious that late, Hehe...).
I've
had a hell of a time putting BTM3's
shots up, everything from FTP Servers at Globalserve going down, to files
being overwritten (...my fault, but didn't make it any easier!, Don't
Drink and Publish!...) There's finally a couple more pages up,
with more to come!
Big,
big, big news!! Can't hold back any longer!!! This hasn't
happened yet, but I have most of the wheels in motion already! The
NT Server will soon have a 24/7 connection to the internet, and on that
NT Server, I'm running Netscape
Web Server software (...full registered version's on it's way!..)
and soon I'll be running a web hosting server!! Yuppers, I've had
"www.Abattoir.net"
registered for some time, but the pricks at Globalserve
have not taken my comments to heart, they've ignored my calls, refused
to acknowledge my concerns and have simply been bad people! Globalserve
has an 'Ambassador'
program, which 'allegedly' awards its users with a free month of InterNet
access for each referral to Globalserve you make (...resulting in a
subscription, of course...). I've been with Globalserve for many,
many years, they owe me (...to date...) 13 months of free access,
I've never received a second of it (...nor will I, I'm quite sure!...).
This has been brought to their attention a million times, yet nothing gets
done. Now I get "www.Abattoir.net"
and want them to 'host' it, in other words, make a stupid entry in their
DNS Server, something that costs them absolutely nothing, they refuse...
Even though I use Globalserve personally, have given them 13 subscriptions
(...including family...), Given them the entire Corporate account
for M-K Power Products, they refuse to
enter this number into their DNS directory unless I pay them $75, plus
another $25 a month for a 'Corporate Account'. Well Globalserve,
I've warned you countless times, guess you thought I wasn't serious, now
your poor lack of judgement and bad business savvy's going to cost you
several accounts (...one's I was never given my rightful credits on...)
and a Corporate account, how do you like me now? (...stick it
to the Man!!..)
More
on this as it develops... No more limits in Web space! :)

Guess
many think I'm lazy for not putting up all the screenshots from last weekends
BTM, fact be
known, I rushed the photos in, got them back that day, scanned and FTP'ed
them up, and started that night on the page, but good old Globalserve has
had problems (...NO! Say it isn't so!!...) with their Corporate
FTP Server, and therefore, I've been unable to publish in a timely fashion.
Speaking of timely, I've been informed that my source for the Matrox G200
has decided they won't have any till the 4th now! Time for a road
trip to the US.
News:
It's been the consensus of many ClanC
members that the Canadian Crusaders is basically dead (...and no one
has received argument from myself to the contrary...). Many have
asked that we begin a new Clan, and seeing as the Abattoir's LAN Parties
(...as an event...) have been a million times the actual 'activity'
ClanC's ever
produced, I pose the obvious: ClanMA.
We have an active server, and FTP site, a webpage that's updated constantly,
we have Clan LAN Parties, we've met almost everyone in ClanC
personally at the BTM
LAN Parties, we even have tee-shirts and bandanas for crying out loud,
so why not!?? I'd appreciate feedback on this, let me know if you're
interested and we'll make it 'official' (...whatever the hell that means!..).
Place the "<MA>"
at the end of your name and show your support!

Well,
we've folded the tables and packed up the cables, and guess what?
We're going to do it all over again September 5th! That's right,
it's "Beat the Meat4",
Saturday the 5th... Get your names in again and we'll place you in
the Confirmed listing. If you've sat back and looked at the screenshots
page saying; "Damned, that looks like a lot of fun, too bad I'm a non-social
geek who never leaves the house..." then now's the time to do it!
Get past your paranoia and get shot in the head live at the Abattoir, it's
a great way to waste a day.
All
you need is your PC... Come on out and meet the people you beat on,
we don't bite (...often... Well, dudio nibbles a tad...).
Drop me a line and tell me if your coming
out!

YawN!...
Good morning! (...Oops. look at the time!...) "Beat
the Meat3" was great! A big thanks to
all that attended, it was great to finally meet a few new faces, dudio,
Robes, #1 Assassin. A great turn-out, and they're getting bigger
each time (...good thing I grabbed extra tables...). The WOQ
worked great off Scorpio's Canopus card, and the new 'beefy network' configuration
Slaughter put together really handled the action well (...and all you
FTPers who where raping half the night!...). I'm off to the shop
to get the pictures developed and hopefully we'll have some screen shots
up in the next day or so...
Off
to update all the Abattoir pages and GibStats logs (...God, am I ever
lazy!..) I'll let you all know when BTM4
is coming-up, we'll try to make it happen in about a month!

"Beat the Meat
in 1 day" Fri

Man,
what a week! But it's almost over, and to relax... We get to
beat the hell out of each other at BTM3
tomorrow! The game's upon us. The WOQ
will be ready to go providing my new Matrox G200 arrives today at the warehouse,
Slaughter's going to be keeping vigil and we'll boot right down and grab
it, providing it shows! Brandon invited myself and Slaughter over
on Wednesday for a BBQ supper, his parents put out quite the spread
of marinated T-bones and corn, I'm still digesting! So to thank Brandon
for all his help with the site, and as a 'bon voyage' present (...family's
moving to BC soon...) we brought him a shinny new Sound Blaster AWE64
to upgrade from his SB16... He should be rocking tomorrow!
Speaking
of rocking, our own Creeping Death will be cranking with his band the "eNDORPHINS"
this coming Sunday the 16th at the REVERB! Tickets are $8.00 in advance
(...and you can grab them right from Creep at BTM3
tomorrow!...) or squish $10.00 at the
door. The REVERB is located at 651 Queen Street West and the doors
fly open at 5pm! If you can't make that bash, they'll be playing
the Comfort Zone at 480 Spadina Avenue, Wednesday the 19th and tickets
are only $3.00 (...I'm informed this second showing is not fully
confirmed, but we'll let you know as soon as we do!...).
That's
it for now, again, there's always room if you want to come out to BTM3,
just drop a reservation
in! Catch you all tomorrow morning / afternoon!

in 5 days" Mon

Just
a quick note to let you know I'm alive and well... For those who
don't know, there's now NetScape
Communicator 4.5 Pre out for the grabbing, many nice little tweaks
and enhancements (...if you're a NetScape kinda' person...).
Countdown begins for BTM3
this coming Saturday, if you're opting to 'early bird' (...set-up Friday
night, and get the best table...) then please let me know. There's
always room for last minute players, or people who just wanna show-up and
sponge a beer (...you know who you are!...) so come on out this
Saturday and shoot a friend in the back!
I've
been asked by God knows how many EMails to detail what we're playing, and
asking specifically of we'll be playing SiN, the answer is "Yes, we'll
give SiN a multiplayer rocking on Saturday, now stop asking!"...
:) We always play things by fly, with Q2 DM and CTF a must,
but we dabble in UnReal (...a little more this time then last!, so don't
forget your CDs...) and we'll try a little Battlezone and of course,
give SiN a run for its money! Any other questions, just keep 'em
coming. See you all saturday!
