FEBRUARY 1999 MINUTES ARCHIVE

Seems we're having some routing problems, Cogeco's been real lagged, but it seems to be clearing now.  There's a new MA-Maps-HL.exe patch up on the Abattoir SuperFTP and a local copy for you Abattoir Loyal players that don't have an account in the Downloads page.  This one's only 12.5 Meg, nice and small compared to the last.  It's a revised map rotation for the Abattoir's Half-Life Server - A couple new maps too...  Here's the list, if you have most of them, but not all, you're advised to go to the SuperFTP and grab just the one's you're shy on.  The new map rotation is : crossfire, frenzy, rustmill, doublecross, complex9, facility, farewell, gasworks, thehill, oneking, enraged2, quarry, CObase, martyrdom, SPIDER, dmjcntrl, x-fire, gorchasm, manhunt, malice, compound.  (...Whew!..)  I hope you like the choices Damozel!  <GriN!>

Well Dave (..BammBamm...) has done it again, BTM6 MPeg's been UpLoaded to the SuperFTP - Hold on to your DialUp's folks, the file's over 72 Meg!  <GaG!>  He's also sent up a "Small" version weighing in at just under 48 Meg (...if that's his idea of small, I can understand why his wife's always smiling!..).  Another great job Dave.

Also on the video front, the Intel PIII QuakeIII Arena movie's up on the SuperFTP as well, our first basic glimpse at what Arena will entail <DroLL>  Be sure to wear a bib before viewing. :)BTM007's almost full, Sputnik just cancelled as he's taking a free trip to Bangkok (...lucky bastard!..) so if you still want in, please let us know asap!  Disinfect has helped out (...again...) with a form for the reservations, we'll be putting that up soon too.

Just a side note, Costco/Price Club has Furbys now, I picked-up 4 of them (...cuz I'm 32 going on 12 this March...) and after batteries were placed in the last one, the word "Party!" came out of it's mouth when it detected the other 3 in the room and the &*$%#@! things have been partying all night!  I should stick them in front of the MeatCAM. :P

Someone pinch me!!  ReSaurus just made my weekend...  I received a lovely big box from Columbus, Ohio this morning.  My legs quivered when I opened it to find that Kevin has sent the Abattoir ALL FOUR of the Collectors Figures in the Quake2 line!!  These are things of beauty I must say!  The Strogg Tank stands almost 10" tall, has real spring/piston leg fittings, working gears, the cannon mounted on his shoulder fires!!!  The detail in these figures is impressive -- They're going to make awesome trophies, thanks a million ReSaurus!  Gawd-Damned, I'm off to take an eye out!!!  (...how old am I!?..).

Kick-ass!!  Kevin Havens from ReSaurus Company, Inc. is sending us the first Quake2 Tank Collection Figure!! (..in Canada anyways!..)  The good folks from ReSaurus saw the write-up in the LAN Minutes and have answered my prayers...  Be sure to look for their products at Toys'R'us, or you can purchase online at the ReSaurus WebStore (...except the Quake Figures, sorry!, you'll have to wait till the end of March for those!..).  Once again, a big thanks ReSaurus!

You just can't stay on top now a days, huh!?  Just read about Intel's 800 MHz servers they intend to have out mid 2000, with 766 MHz computers by the first quarter of 2000 (...Ugh!...).  I think I'm going to set-up my Atari again, get that 800XL pumping.  (...Motorola 6502, here I come!...).  The Abattoir (...or actually, M-K Power Products...) has an offer...  We're cleaning out the storage rooms.  We have about 8 Wyse150+ terminals we need to get rid of, they're really not worth too much anymore, but they're far from junk.  If you know anyone who's business uses Wyse50-150 terminals and could use some extras/spares, please speak-up ASAP, as these bad boys will be heading to the dump otherwyse.

A couple things to bring up to speed, the Abattoir Map Pack is out for Half-Life (...MA-Maps-HL.exe...), you can grab a local copy from the Downloads page, or off the Abattoir SuperFTP - It's rather massive, but it'll get you into action on the Abattoir server much faster than downloading as you play!

This could be yours! Drool!!I'm thinking of getting some trophy action happening, I've had conversations with ReSaurus in Ohio and am making attempts to acquire the first Quake2 Strogg Tank into Canada <GriN!>.  According to ReSaurus' online ppl, Toys'R'us will be one of the distribution outlets for the new Action Figure collectable line, but management for the Toy giant says the stocking dates for Canada will be March 26th.  I thought this beauty mounted on a wood base plate plaque would make an awesome trophy, but I'm not too sure I want to spend $95 to get one here (...Ugh!..).  I'll keep you posted.

As many have noted, the Screenshots page has finally been updated, although not complete yet, there's a couple pages up from BTM6 to check out...

Also, Robes has commented on the Abattoir's Quake2 Lithium Server not being very 'active' lately...  Well, you're right!  We're having some problems with it which we hope to have resolved soon, it's a UDP SocketOpenKissMyAss protocol thingy with the new Half-Life Server (...Christ, it's like putting a Humidifier and DeHumidifier in the same room and letting them slug it out!..).  Robes enlightened me on his latest acquisition - He'll be sporting a lovely Pentium III 500 shortly (...bastard!..)  I lost sleep on that one Pete!  Can't wait to see that bad-boy game machine from hell!!  Will your Duel Voodoo2 12Megs be able to keep-up to it!? :P

 Wed - Feb 03rd - 11:06 am
It's a sad day here in Canada as we all pay our respects to Wiarton Willy, who passed away at the ripe age of 22 (...at least, he was 'ripe' when they found him...).  The Groundhog's US counterpart Punxsutawney Phil sends his condolences -- and now a moment of silence....  <FlusH!>.

The table's are already filling fast for BTM007 - if you're bringing your machine and want a spot on the HUB, you best get your name in, no exceptions!  We'll be working on a form for reservations and hope to have something up in the next short bit (...yes!!!  After the screenshots page is updated!  Geez!!..).

 Tue - Feb 02nd - 10:36 am
Half-Life is an official part of the Abattoir Server Family now -- Seems there's a slight problem with Half-Life keeping-up with the cLANetic-Energy network, we had to scale the ethernet card in the server down to 10Mbit for the Half-Life server to operate local (...go figger'..).  Regardless, we're back to full throttle so jump over to the Abattoir for a game of Quake2 or Half-Life any time!

We're going to work on the Screenshots tonight, if you have a SuperFTP account, you can grab a sneak at the pics in the BTM folder.  Oh yeah, you can all stop bugging BammBamm, he's putting together the BTM6.AVI as fast as he can! Hehe...

 Mon - Feb 01st - 02:30 pm
Way too intense!!  A big thanks from Sgt.Slaughter and myself to all that hauled ass to the Abattoir for BTM6!  Our best turnout yet, a breaker-popping good time and they're only getting better!  Met many new faces including Dobeman (...Karl Raupp...) who EMailed us Friday afternoon and came in from London to play...  Daft, SillyBum, Tempest, LoSt, Main, Vitolagy and GeneralAir, all were new Abattoir recruits!  The "Hoopa" table was in great form as well, we hope everyone had a great time, we're off to get more chairs!  The date's been set for BTM 007, so book now, we're limiting it to the first 16 computers!  We'll do our best to get pictures up ASAP.
