SEPTEMBER 1999 MINUTES ARCHIVE
Sat - Sep 18th - 10:07 am
Our Quake2 server is back!  We've popped back into Quake2 (...the server's been off for quite some time...) but we're going to put a few hours on her!  Come on out and get a game going -- High scores have been turned on, and we've started from scratch, so play your heart out and claim your level!  The server will display your name along with your high score and the date you got it (...till someone beats it!..) for each level, and map voting is turned on.  Give it a shot.  I'll be granting Admin. Rights to a select few Abattoir regulars on the server soon -- if you're interested, drop me a call.

BammBamm's offered $5 for my G200 Bundle... Going once, going twice (...not...).  I forgot to mention this, and BammBamm's brought it back to my attention, During BTM11, LoneFart uploaded to the Abattoir SuperFTP a file called "lmctf456.exe", this was a trojan (...and we're not talking latex kids...)  My Norton AntiVirus made short work of it, however, some of you may have grabbed this file -- I've done some searching on Symantec's site to find out what the payload delivery and inoculation steps are, but I've failed to find it (...Odd how Norton says the file's a trojan, deletes it, yet their site doesn't mention it -- must be a rename of a common trojan I guess...).  If anyone has any information on the payload, please let us know.  (...as for you LoneFart; "Bailiff, whack his Pee-pee!!"...)  I'm sure LoneFart had no idea, so don't flame him!

This weekend, I'll be working on a certain folder on the SuperFTP which now has in excess of 1,800 files, I hope to have it more organized and 'pretty' soon (...it's a huge undertaking as you can imagine...).  Of course I can't say which folder it is, and can't tell you what's in it, but the directory will be "TUNED" soon <GriN!>.

Just push the food under the door and leave me alone...  I just picked-up my Matrox G400MAX and game play just hopped another level for me!  (...always wanted to play Quake at 2048 x 1536, NOT...)  Now comes the task of properly burning in the card <GriN!>.  Hey, and guess what -- It's the FIRST card!!  We didn't have to install 3 Matrox cards, the FIRST one worked!!  Whoo-hoo!!  We'll be on the Abattoir pretty much all night blasting away in Half-Life for the more part.  We've also changed the Abattoir'smap cycle for the Half-Life server, due to the sudden volume of players, I take it most approve!

Well, well...  Looks like BTM12 filled beyond capacity in a few short hours (...had a feeling that was going to happen...).  Here's the official scoop (...cuz I've been asked / yelled at about this several times already!..).  As stated, it's first come, first served.  We do not take advanced bookings simply because it's not fair to everyone - no one can claim anyone's playing favourites.  Once the date is announced for the next BTM, the board is cleared and then re-filled in accordance to DATE and TIME stamps of the reservation EMails that come in.  If you don't get the Haha!! (...Hint!  It tells first thing in the morning when the dates are set!..) or you don't check the Abattoir often, you'll miss out.  We're taking 'Standby' reservations now, there's always cancellations so you're not sunk if you still want in.  (...again, first come, first numbered...).  Since the Abattoir was mentioned on LanParty.com, PlanetHalfLife and PlanetQuake the bookings are fast and ugly, what can we say -- It's a fun time to be had by all <GriN!>

Just in case you're not up on your Microsoft blunder news, there's more security breach action happening out there, if you've not run your Windows UpDate (...you know, the one that claims it's not sending any information to Microsoft when it runs, Buahahahahahaha!!! <ChokE!, GaG!>  Ahem!...) best be patching, read all about it.

Okay, let's see how long this takes...  BTM12 was going to be set for October 9th, but that's Thanksgiving weekend, so avoid conflicts with those who have to do the gobble-gobble with family that weekend, we'll put it off an additional week till October 16th.  So there you have it!  BTM12 "Half way to a Two-Four" will be hosted Saturday October 16th -- Let's hear the names?

Wed - Sep 01st - 09:45 am
Great time, nice to meet so many new faces at BTM11...  A quick note here, BammBamm's Half-Life CD went missing, we're not pointing fingers, but could the person who borrowed it please return it to the Abattoir, just leave it in the mailbox today and we'll make sure BammBamm gets it back (...thanks in advance...).

The date shall be set for the upcoming BTM12 "Half Way to a Two-Four" (...you have to be Canadian to appreciate what that title means...) probably by tonight, this isn't a shameless pump here, this is a fact, if you want in, be sure to keep on top of the LAN Minutes for the date set...  I've been asked by 8 people to automatically sign them up, but you all know we don't do that, it's always first come, first served.  This BTM will be booked very quickly, so keep a keen eye (...Looks like we'll be visited by several "Old-Farts" at BTM12...)  Nuff said.
