OCTOBER 1999 MINUTES ARCHIVE
Mon - Oct 25th - 01:30 pm
Wow... Not too sure what Cgocable's trying to do, whether it's make my life miserable or improve the network in my area, but as of 7:45am this morning, the Abattoir has been re-re-re-re-issued a new IP.  Now we're at 24.141.81.17  (...let's just see you try and keep up!...)  I'm going to make a few calls and see if I can't find out what all the hubbub it about.

In the mean time, the Abattoir's BTM button is still busted (...I know, so please stop calling!..)  We're working on it, but work comes first (...and I heard Redneck mention something about having tickets to tonight's Leaf's game...) so I'll get things fixed-up as soon as I have a chance (...did I mention I purchased "Homeworld" yesterday?...)  You might want to pick that game up too, I'm sure there'll be a little of that come "BTM Holiday Edition".  We're filling-up fast (...if not already full!...) all the EMail's are stored, so don't panic -- You'll know if you're in or not in a couple days.  Keep the reservations coming though, we do have cancellations so you'll want to be first up on the Stand-by listing.

Fri - Oct 22nd - 11:53 am
Two things...  Cable has changed the Abattoir's IP again, we're now at 24.141.81.121 so change your records! (...Pricks...)  Netscape attempted to save the Abattoir page after I had edited it, however, due to Microsoft fucking with LinkExchange, their server's have not been responding resulting in Netscape not being able to complete its page save correctly, cuz the stupid image from LinkExchange wasn't being sent which then resulted in a bastardization of the Java script on the side bar which I cannot fix right now -- SO!  You'll not be able to see the fact that BTM "Holiday Edition" is set for November 20th!  (...can you tell I'm a tad irritated right now?..)

So there it is...  If you want in, you must register using THIS email address, if you send to any other, I may miss your registration over the weekend.  Once again, our IP's now 24.141.81.121 and the next BTM will be November 20th.

We're set, and good to go!  BTM "Holiday Edition" has been set and the date will be announced here at noon - After that, it's first come, first signed!  Catch you at noon!

Mon - Oct 18th - 09:30 am
My Head Really Hurts!! Augh! Now that was a full house!  I think everyone but the neighbour enjoyed themselves, a big thanks to all who came out again.  Some more new faces made their way over on very short cancellation notice.  BammBamm played "Win98 Load" (...a very exciting game...) while LoneFart and Impaired both played the Coke machine (...not sure who had the higher score there...).  Our lost and found does consist of one "YaK BaK" unit left behind.  I found a whole bunch of post-it notes the next day saying "Sign me up for the next one" but you know we don't do that...  So stay tuned to the Abattoir regularly for the announcement of the next date (...again, if you get the Morning Haha!! you'll have an advantage there... HinT!...)

Speaking of Super Computers, here's a proposal -- Come join the Abattoir Server Set for SETI (...the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence...).  Since they need CPU Power galore, we've starting linking our resources.  Grab this great screen saver here for PC  or here for Mac and run it.  Then follow this link to join the MeatMan's Abattoir2 Server Set (...you'll need to have them EMail you a password, it takes seconds...)  When your screen saver kicks in, it'll start reading and analysing radio telescope data that SETI sends you!  Have your computer do something useful with its free time!  (...everyone that joins our group wins a taco...).  If you need any help with the setup, feel free to ask me.  Let's find us some E.T.s!!  (...this will help SETI out, and it's perfect for those of you who have constant Internet connections...).

Thu - Oct 07th - 03:40 pm
We've upgraded the Abattoir's Servers...  Got sick of Quake2 bitching with Half-Life which complained to Quake3:Arena that has a problem with Unreal, so we've scratched the whole system and installed this little beauty -- Unfortunately, our new NEC SX-5 takes up the entire livingroom area leaving only the second floor and diningroom areas for the LAN Party, so I have to have volunteers who are willing to give-up their seats for BTM12.  We now are running 255 Quake Servers, 400 Quake2 Servers, 750 Half-Life Servers (...400 of which are CS...), 14 Unreal and 55 Quake3:Arena servers as well as dedicating 4 terabytes to the new Abattoir SuperDuperFTP Server.  There's also a new porno and MP3 dedicated section, but we'll not bother getting into that just now...

This is, of course, a joke -- But if you had to be told that...
Wed - Oct 06th - 10:15 am
Been quite a while between updates, but not too much news to report.  The BTM is stuffed beyond capacity, and the requests keep coming in!  We've already got four people on 'lay-away' and I've had to turn down 8 others so far (...cascade the hub?...)  In case you've not noticed, the Abattoir's Servers have been down the last few days (...other than the SuperFTP of course...) due to the horrible condition cable's been in.  We're using the 'lull' in service to try and get an RT300 capture card installed (...someone rent me a few IRQs!  My kingdom for some more IRQs!...).

Our Quake2 server is still being a bitch, I think Lithium just doesn't like to share a room with Half-Life, so we'll only be putting it up by request -- We've also resurrected our UnReal server!  Come on out tonight and give it a shot, the server's will all be back tonight.
