Let
the registrations begin! We've decided to hold BTM14 on January 8th
-- As they say on the radio, the lines are now open and operators are standing-by
to take your calls. First come first served. Don't miss out
on the first BTM LAN Party of the new millennium (...which technically
doesn't start till 2001 anyway, but hey...). Head to that registration
page and fill in the blanks!

Woah!
I just realized something... I didn't even mention who won
our little Nerf Tournament at BTM13
-- Congratulations CorpsE! Cam walked away with the booty by sweeping
the competition in "Nerf
Tournament". Cam is now the proud owner of a three pac of SPAM!
Way ta' go! (...I think grand prize at BTM14
is going to be Toaster Strudels, but we're not sure...)

Turns
out we have a release date set for Quake3:Arena!
This just came across the wire (...yesterday actually...) from Activision:
| November 23, 1999 - Santa Monica,
Calif. - Activision today announced that Quake III Arena has gone gold.
Developed by id Software, Quake III Arena is the third installment of one
of the most popular computer game franchises of all time and is designed
to be the final word in online multiplayer mayhem. The title, which was
sent into manufacturing today, is expected to hit retail shelves on Dec.
12, 1999 at a suggested price of $49.99. |
Let's
just see how close we land to that date! <GriN!>.
With respect to BTM14,
I've been receiving a little feedback on date preferences. Many people
have stated they wouldn't mind ringing in the new millennium at the Abattoir
(...we're flattered...) Keep the comments coming, it'll make
it easier to decide what we're going to do! Do you wanna' party Abattoir
Style Jan 01st?

Pizza
anyone? I don't think I've ever seen four massive party size pizzas
devoured so fast -- It was like watching a pack of lions rip the throat
from a gazelle. This pic was taken about 12 seconds after the boxes
were opened! (...can't understand what Tempest is doing here,
he can't possibly have any room left after eating all my Bagels!
Hey Tempest, BYOB next time -- "Bring your Own Bagels"...).
BTM13
was a blast, thanks all for watching your P's & Q's and making for
yet another great LAN Party. As usual, the Abattoir
now has a new IP,
we're at 24.141.82.175
now so please adjust your sets. Now comes the painful task of selecting
BTM14s
date. 6 weeks from the last would actually place BTM14
on January 1st - 2000! I'm not too sure we all want that -- then
again, we could use our subwoofers with confidence that we won't be seeing
certain
persons on the front lawn <GriN!>.
If not, we'll do January 8th, any thoughts!? (...this all providing
the Earth still exists after December 31st, 1999 of course!..)

Some
last minute cancellations (...thanks for letting us know guys...)
and we may have an opening, we're still taking 'Stand-By' registrations
BTW. so get your name in if you're want to come out Saturday to take
a rocket in the noggin'. We'll be going "Off-Line" around 8pm tonight,
so catch you this evening or Saturday.

We're
getting closer! I've spent the day cleaning, setting up and restocking
the Coke machine -- here you can see today's pile of 'LiquidBootie' ready
for loading. If you click on the image, you'll see a larger version
showing how the beverages are going to be divided up and also you may just
be able to make out the tournament prize for BTM
"Holiday Edition" if you squint (...and
who wouldn't KILL for this!..). I can hear the rockets thundering
by at this very second, just smell that solid propellant! (...getting
goose bumps!..)
Just
a quick reminder, the 'Early-Bird'
set-up is any time after 6pm tomorrow night, please let me know who's coming
if you've not already. For the rest of you, we get at it Noon Saturday!
If you still need directions, please let me know!

For
all you newbies to the Abattoir,
never fret -- This morning at 7:40 I caught the Works Department replacing
the road sign outside that was ripped from its mooring during last weeks
storm <GriN!>.
Actually, we think it was knocked loose when a sport utility went up the
curb and hit the post (...witnessed by myself and Redneck's wife...).
Regardless, we're easy to find so if you're on the list and coming to BTM
"Holiday Edition" and require directions,
please let me know!
Further
on the same topic -- I've received a couple EMails now asking if "I can
come anyway?" even if you're not on the playlist. "No". The
playlist is there for a reason, it show's who's playing. If you're
NOT on the list, you're not playing and you're not coming. We have
to crackdown on "Peepers" -- The Abattoir's
LAN Party is a great time, but it costs us
to host it, therefore, if 24 people show-up to "Watch", there goes the
food and beverage the "players" helped pay for with their $10 play-fee.
It's not fair to them and it costs me. You have to be a guest to
come invited by myself or SGT.Slaughter only. We have to be firm
on this, I'm sure if you take two steps back and look at the big picture,
you'll understand.
By
the same token -- If you ARE on the playlist and you find out you cannot
make it, Please, please, please let us know as soon as possible...
No one's going to chew you out, we have people itching to take your seat
so for cryin' out loud, speak-up if you can't come! (...just don't
yell it out loud on a subway, you'll get looks...).

Now
we're rockin'! In case you're dead and haven't heard... Quake3:Arena
Test is out! This is not the completed
official "Demo", rather a prequel to it. This, of course is where
the Abattoir
comes in, although we were notified when the file was released, the FTP
sites and all mirrors are simply getting hammered!! I can't wait
around for it to finish, so I'm leaving it in good faith that the SuperFTP
will have the complete file within a short time. Matter-o-Fact, my
download JUST timed out! Now I'm running Netscape's new SmartDownload
(...man, is it ever raping!..)
This
of course means I won't have the Abattoir
Quake3:Arena Server running till after work,
but keep posted!

For
years, the Abattoir
has been a contributing tester for the LithiumII
MOD. As of today, that's no more. The LithiumII MOD has
not had an update in over 6 months. By popular demand, we've now
set-up OSP Tourney
as our Quake2 Server! We've given it the go over (...hours of
gruelling testing!..) and we're rock solid! So happy, we've introduced
a new custom map rotation! You can read all about it here!
(...There's even pictures!..)
Get
your rocket launcher strapped on and let's get fraggin'... There's
High Scores waiting to be set marines!! We will soon be revamping
the Stats page too (...or should we finish the screenshots?!..)
so make your bullets count!

There
goes another umbrella! The wind storm last night ripped open then
beat the hell out of my second umbrella and I also found (...impaled
in my lawn like a Chinese throwing star...) the sign for my street!
Brutal winds... I've thrown together a form to use when applying
for the BTM,
you can find it in the LAN
Party section.

Well,
"Oh-my-Gawd!" I've finally got around to "decoding" whatever the
hell happened to the JavaScript for the Abattoir's
menu! Talk about a "Piss Me Off"! So, the menu bar's working
again (...at last...) thus the BTM
button's working! Don't panic if what you see is not right, I'll
have to update it when I get home tonight from all the EMail's we've received.
Check it out around 6:30ish, we should be level by then! Thanks for
all your patience.
Abattoir's
Quake2 server will be redone again soon too... I've completely given
up on Lithium2 - I'm
going to put up OSP
Tourney tonight, we'll see how happy the servers are after that!
