MAY 2000 MINUTES ARCHIVE
10:45pm Wed May 31, 2000
...it was a clean kill!  What a killer!  Seems Stuii's been brushing up on his Quake skills...  Went outside for a breath of fresh air (...smoke break...) and Stuii was at the door with a present...  Seems I've got a huge colony of field mice in the garage and Stuii decided to issue his own eviction notice.  Well, nothing much to update at this point really, the D-Link Gateway server's not available anywhere, even though their site claims 43,543 in stock.  Intel announced a new 1.4Ghz processor it's going to release in the next quarter, Lisa's 30th is coming up (...in case you're one of the few she's not told...)  CorpsE kicked the living hell out of Slaughter and myself on the Abattoir's UnReal Server tonight, McDonald's has a great Dinosaurs Happy Meal out, my neighbour's still a "DickHead" and I'm going to bed!  Have a great evening.

FYI:  We've had major complications regarding the bump ahead of BTM18, we may be switching it back to the original date...  We'll have confirmation in 24 hours...

Bzzz... ClicK! SnaP!Why can't I log onto the Abattoir SuperFTP Server!?  Well, because it's dead, that's why!  Over the weekend the SuperFTP Server's secondary storage drive refused to come online because the auxiliary drive running slave to it decided to die.  At first it was thought both drives blew, but I couldn't see that being the case (...especially since the FTP drive is new...).  Regardless, Sgt.Slaughter brought the SuperFTP into work this morning and he's removed the auxiliary drive and re-jumped the SuperFTP drive.  We'll ba back online tonight.  (...the Abattoir's Game Servers were of course not affected, they MUST stay up! <GriN!>...)  As a result thought, I've lost all my web files and all my digital photography (...I'm nothing shy of a little ticked!..).  Since power to the drive has no effect, we think the board's just gone on it so we're attempting to acquire a new controller board from Seagate.  Finger's crossed...

In other news, we've ordered our Gateway and should have that tonight as well...  This will allow every person who comes to the BTMs the ability to just Plug'n'Frag® into the cLANetic-Energy house network and boom!  The system will supply you with DCHP assigned IP Address, and you'll be online, and on the internet as well!  With this in place, we'll be able to offer LAN/WAN Parties again.  People will be able to join the Abattoir LAN Parties live over the internet, plus the MeatCAM will be able to relay the action live!  If you've never been to a BTM, now you'll be able to watch one at 1FPM (...how pathetic is that!?..)  More as things unfold...   BTW:  My neighbour's still a "DickHead".  I'll let you know the split second that ever changes.

03:45pm Fri May 26, 2000
Oops!  Poor Impaired had to cancel out for BTM18--  Turns out the new date falls on his wife's birthday and he's stuck having to...  'er, I mean, he'll be smothering Tara with love that weekend.  I told him we could hang balloons and yell "Surprise!" when they came over, then tell her it's a special Birthday BTM just for her!  But he wouldn't go for it...  That opens a spot on the hub and the waiting list grows one person shorter.

08:15am Fri May 26, 2000
The weekend's here again...  We're getting some great feedback about the site's new look and format, appreciate it, there's a lot more work to do just moving files over, but we're getting there.  Hey, did you see "DickHead" on the Warriors Page?  (...couldn't resist...)  It's been brought to my attention that there are a few names missing from the Warriors Page, sorry, it's not Intentional, I'm just an idiot.  If you've been to the Abattoir and your name's not on the page, please just drop me a note and I'll take care of it!  Each person on the list will have his own webpage, and on that page, there will be links to each and every picture in the Abattoir achieves which that person appears in (...it's a whole catalogue thing!...), so if you've been and you're not listed, speak up!  Have a safe weekend.

Way past "DickHead's" bed time! --> 09:59pm Tue May 23, 2000
Total DickHead!  As promised, here "it" is...  The long awaited photo of "DickHead".  I think I'll put up a Profile of him on the Warriors page.  I mean... after all, he's been at several BTMs already (...even if it's only been standing on the front lawn to complain about the "noise"...)   This shot was taken the morning after we (...like MILLIONS of others across Canada...) had sent explosives into the air to celebrate Victoria Day.  This social introvert actually called the police with a "noise complaint" about our fireworks.  We're really in a situation here... I mean, I've bitched about this dink's actions in the past, but after this incident I'm at a loss!  How do you deal with a "DickHead" like this!?  I told the cop that after she leaves we were going to light his house on fire and do a full sized "Burning Schoolhouse"... We're at wits end with this "DickHead".  Oh well, if it's war he wants, it's war he'll get.  (...take a stab at who's going to lose this one...)  <GriN!>

Other news, the Warriors page template is done and updating has started.  Email's have been sent to everyone who's getting a profile on the Warriors page, please be sure to fill them out and get them back ASAP (...so far, they've been rolling in pretty good...)  If you're a regular to the Abattoir and you've not received a form, please let me know, chances are we've not got your current Email address.  For that matter, I ask you to check the Warriors page and make sure we DO have your correct EMail address.  :P

Ohh! Awww!!  About $220 worth of fireworks were shot off the other night... not too much, but we did keep the ones that were "worthy".  As promised, we shall compile a nice list (...along with the Email's we're getting from the Abattoir Morning Haha!!...) of the decent ones.  Then on Canada Day, we invite you all over for a camp out at the Abattoir, some BBQ action, and explosives (...and a possible lynching of "DickHead"...)  More on that later!

As many have noticed, we've revised the date for BTM18!  Due to demand, we've bumped it a week ahead -- Please check to make sure you're available that weekend if you've already signed-up.  Off to pound on the walls and wake-up "DickHead".  :o)

04:10pm Tue May 16, 2000
Get going!  Don't be left out again!  Get your name in now cuz BTM18 will be on June 24th and it's going to be sunny, hot, high near 28 with a 98% chance of frag.  We filled-up in under 12 hours last time so Sign-Up now or just "hear" about it later.  Hope to see you there!

10:40am Mon May 15, 2000
Now THAT'S a big Weiner!!  G'day!  BTM17 is behind us, and we're no worse for wear.  The carpet was soiled by Vitolagy who doesn't know how to take his shoes off, mug shots were taken of all the players for the new, upcoming Warriors page, BitchNheat railed me so many times my head's still spinning, LoneFart gassed-out everyone in his room about four times and Impaired is shy another couple dozen brain cells  (...and PuNKer finally picked-up his shorts!..).  Soldier8 called Killah-Priest to make sure he was on his way, and while speaking to his mother who informed him he's gone, Soldier8 says to her; "Has he gone to 'Beat the Meat'?".  I sure hope his mother knows what that means!  The game was all Quake3:Arena, all the time!  A great time had, thanks to all for maintaining a responsible and fun environment...  Now to set the date for BTM18!

21 Bagel Salute!  Robes was a no show but we had a full house with no free ports and FreakBoy was waiting for someone to leave so he could get in (...last, last second reservation...)  --  A wild time for sure.  Tempest missed-out due to lack of transport, but here's a 21 Bagel Salute in your honour!  The Abattoir's Servers have been switched back to the internet, and all the digital shots have been loaded, we just have to wait on Bammbamm for his pictures.  Keep posted for the date announcement, then get your names in fast!

05:55pm Fri May 12, 2000
Murderer turns himself in!  News flash! -- Update on the chimenea's "suspicious" demise.  After reading the Minutes, LoneFart turned himself in admitting "I think it's my fault your chimenea got smashed, I moved the umbrella closer, sorry."  LoneFart will be tried for 3rd degree chimslaughter, but will probably just get off with a slap on the wrist and a beer.

Meanwhile, we're setting up the tables and cables getting ready for the Early-Bird people, we're leaving the servers on the internet untill about 8pm, then we're pulling the plug.  See you soon.

12:45pm Fri May 12, 2000
Time's up!  BTM17 is here and once again the servers will go silent to the internet as we switch them over to the in-house network tonight during the Early-Bird set-up.  Notices have been sent to all in the BTM Listing for confirmation.  We've had a couple people who have had to pull out (...poor Scorpio!  This will be the second one he's missed...) but we've still got a few on the waiting list, so don't give-up hope if you're still waiting.

This BTM will concentrate on Quake3:Arena (...since we've not given it a fair run yet...).  Please make sure you've downloaded and installed the 1.17 patch, it's on the Abattoir.Net SuperFTP Server as well so you can grab it local (...in approximatly 5 seconds...) if you don't have it, but getting it installed and tested before coming over is always "nice".  We've not decided on which MOD to play (...if any...) so we'll have a vote on that Saturday.  Radio silence again after tonight, so till Monday, peace!

08:10pm Wed May 10, 2000
...it died on impact  What's this?!  Foul play afoot?  Someone fragged my chimenea!!  If you've been reading the Abattoir for any period of time, you would know that we've not had the greatest luck with respect to outdoor umbrellas.  I keep buying these huge 18' canvas umbrellas with nice brass fittings and leather uppers: classy...  Yet every year we forget to put them down when a big storm blows through, and we awaken to yet another trashed umbrella.  Yesterday I went out and bought two more (...glutton for punishment...). One was put on the table out back, the other was left in its box and propped up against the railing of the back porch.  Last night we had a storm.  That's okay, cuz for once, I remembered to put the umbrella down.  Check this out -- these damned things are possessed, I swear.  The umbrella that was still in the box (...and thus unable to flail itself into the wind and commit umbrellacide...) decided that if it couldn't take its own life, it'll take out something else...  CrasH! It went. Right on top of my chimenea (...outdoor pottery fireplace...).

Hey! I found Hoffa!!  There is however a conspiracy theory: what if the neighbour took a broom handle, and poked the box from across the fence?  We have our best forensic team working on it.  Just to be safe though, we chopped him up and buried him in the backyard (...kiddin'...).  After a few beers, we decided to level the pool, so out came the shovels, and three idiots started tearing up the lawn...  That should bring up the property value a tad! <GriN!>

On a side note, a few people have said they cannot connect to the Abattoir SuperFTP Server, take note on the main page - we've had our IP switched!

11:28am Mon May 08, 2000
I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who've sent in kind words and condolences regarding my grandfather's passing, it's appreciated very much by the entire family.

SplasH!  We're back in gear and good to go for BTM17 this weekend, confirmation emails will be sent out soon.  Funny, I got back from New Brunswick to over 250 emails, and not a single "I Love You" from anyone!  What a great virus this one's turned out to be.  At the point of this writing, there are now 13 strains of the "I Love You" virus, all I can say to the author is "well done!" but why include a destructive payload?  Oh well, make sure your Norton AntiVirus is up to date.

If you're heading over for BTM17, bring your swimming trunks!  We've put in a pool and the water's great!  Just take a look at Mark (Redneck) and Steve (Sgt.Slaughter) "breaching" in the pool last night while Kathryn shows them how to make a real splash!  (...actually, the water was a tad "cool" and jumping in was the only way to shock your system into liking it...)  We've rigged-up a solar furnace to it now, so the temperature's rising!

10:30am Tue May 02, 2000
Sad day at the Abattoir.  Got the call just after the hockey game, my Grandfather (...on my father's side...) passed away last night.  Looks like we're heading to New Brunswick first thing tomorrow morning.  Obviously, there will be no updates to the site and the Abattoir Morning Haha!! will be taking a brief break.

My grandfather was an award winning professional photographer, carpenter and a hell of a man...  He'll be missed, but will live on though the images he's captured over the years.  Peace.

01:00am Mon May 01, 2000
Greetings one and all!  (...you too LoneFart, if you're not sleeping...).  Today marks the official launch of "Abattoir.Net"...  Although there's much work to be done, like transferring and redesign of all the old pages to the new format and servers, we hope this redesign meets your approval -- if not, go to hell, this was a lot of work you bastard! <GriN!>.  There are many pages that are not moved over yet (...not just a case of doing a copy, we're redoing the entire site...) so if you hit some road blocks, please feel free to let me know.  We hope to have the entire "MeatMan's Abattoir2" moved over to "Abattoir.Net" by the close of the week.

With this new domain comes a few nice additions I've been planning for quite some time, I'll not delve too deep into details, but a Bulletin Board and "@Abattoir.Net" Web Based Email for all of us are just a few things that will be coming on deck.  We'll also be working on a new Abattoir Server and adding another 40 Gig storage to our main rack.  (...you all know this is really cutting into my Beer drinking time, huh?..).

So once again, welcome to "Abattoir.Net" -- hope you enjoy the new site and bare with us till the dust settles, I never realized how big the site was till I started moving it over!
