BTM19 - AUG.05Been a while since we've updated...  Busy, busy around the Abattoir the last little while and BTM19 is a week away.  It's safe to say that BTM19 will be upstairs like normal and not in the basement as we've not even begun to frame and wire yet.  Rather than do a hack job and rush it, we'll just play like normal upstairs, but BTM20 will be a basement bash for sure!  Looks like the weather's finally decided to emulate summer, so bring your trunks if you plan on jumping in the dunk tank.

Spent a day at Paramount Canada's WonderLand -- Had a good time, but here are some annoyances I've found (...time to write a letter to Paramount...)

a-  All day, all ride "God" passport & parking $99 for two suckers, 'er, patrons
b-  Doesn't cover all rides (...contrary to what you'd think...)
c-  Two warm Budweiser, $10.04
d-  One hour line-up for 4 second DropZone ride
e-  Pop 5.85 times more expensive than Gas

Taken for a ride...After paying to get into the park, the first "ride" we went to (...and without a doubt, the cheapest to build...) was a giant arch...  They strap you in a harness, then tow you up and let you "Swing".  The pricks wanted another $17.95 per person for this, I almost shit.  I asked what the point was of paying at the front door, she had no answer.  Then we went to get two beers...  I pull out a $5 bill and joke "Guess this won't cover it, huh?"  She smiles then asked me for $10.04!!  What the f@ck is the four cents for!?  I asked her where the table dancers come out from, cuz I want to be sure I pick a good seat...  She found no humour in that (...nor did I...).  To boot, I had to ask her for a damp cloth so I could wipe my table down, then there were signs posted all around the place saying "Please clean off your table".  For $10.04 for two warm Budweisers (...due to lack of choice...) I'll urinate on the tables and YOU can friggin' clean it up!  (...Geez, want me to vacuum too?..)  Then at every ride, I get into an argument with the ride crew about taking my digital camera on the ride "No camera's allowed on the rides, park policy" -- Hey asshole, for what I spent to get in here, I should have a video crew following me around to capture the memories...  No, they want you to purchase one of their lovely black and white, thermal paper pieces of blurry shit snap shots they take of you for $4 a tear.  In general, I love rides, however...  Rape me hard with no lube at the front gate, Paramount...  Don't slowly f@ck me to death in the park while I'm trying to enjoy myself.  The experience left almost as bad a taste in my mouth as their $5, uncooked, shy on toppings pizza slices...  I'd hate to have a family of 6, that's all I can say.  Going again next week.  :p

This Bud's for you DickHead! Our winner of the "Get the Dick Out" contest, BillyBob, took a nice photo while on vacation where he used his windfall to purchase an entire case of beer and still have enough left over for a lovely set of gloves, a cap and the matching tee-shirt as seen here flippin' DickHead the bird.  Rather than that anticipated trip to Hamilton, BillyBob decided to spend the cash up north in Muskoka and share the beer and his good fortune with his friends (...which is what non-dickheads do...)  Thanks for the photo BillyBob!

Just a quick update on the Abattoir SuperFTP Server, I've had a few people mention they've been unable to connect...  Apologies, that was my fault!  I forgot to pass the port to the new Gateway Server and it was just doing its job (...which is blocking you hacking bastards...)  The port's been re-opened, FTP your face off.

Warm me up baby!Robes... You're Next!Well, after much work and sweat, our new "Dunk-Tank" is all set up and ready for Robes...  The water's crystal clear (...till Slaughter gets in...) and nice and warm (...when the sun comes out!..) so be sure to bring your suit if you're coming to BTM19.  Our Solar Furnace was put into service for its test run and brought ice cold water up to a warm 80 degrees in one pass, not too shabby at all!  If we get a day of good sunlight we're sure the 10,600L of water will hit 90 no problems...  Time to clean-up the backyard and get ready to start work on the "Meat Cellar" -- We've only got 22 days left till BTM19 to move the network to the basement and get the electrical wiring in...  We're still discussing the purchase of a second hub to cascade off and double the BTM's size, we'll see how things go and keep you posted.

Solar Fun!Work continued last night on the Solar Furnace -- It's going to be 8'x4' and contain over 200' of black, sunlight heat gulping hose...  We're curious to see how much heat we'll be able to pull with this beast.  The back yard at the Abattoir is slowly starting to look like Tim Allan's garage...  I can't wait to just get these little "Stupid Human Projects" done so I can clean up!  We should have it finished and up over the weekend.  We're still waiting to put the new pool in place -- Like a moron, I over sprayed the deck with sealant and it's taking its sweet time drying...  Right now it's just become one giant 16'x16' piece of flypaper (...you should see what it's catching!..)Check me out!

For the techies out there, you have to check this site out!  Honda in Japan has created the world's most advanced bipedal robot called "P3".  This thing can walk on two legs, navigate stairs, bumps and inclines and can perform tasks with it's arms...  Check the site out and read all about him, it's rather amazing!  Have a safe weekend.

Check out my wood! We're all decked out!  Spent the long weekend doing a major construction job, our little blow-up pool was so much fun we've decided to take it up a notch...  We've grabbed a 15'x3' pool and built a deck to put it on!  The deck's a tad "over engineered", but we like things solid at the Abattoir -- 2"x8"x16' runners at 1' centres with 2"x6" deck boards all supported by 16 DecBlok footings and held together with over 1,200 brass screws...  A little wash down with some deck sealant and this pressure-treated beauty's here to stay!  DickHead was out on his porch and saw us manly men going at our manly project, we had just finished the boxed frame portion of the deck, when I noticed him looking so I yelled over to Redneck; "Okay!  The box of the outdoor super-subwoofer's done, let's take a break!"  God, we're glad he's moving. Here we go again...

Looks like Intel has posted its press release and the Pentium 4 processor (...formerly code named "Willamette"...) is due out mid 2000, check here for details.  With the deck done, now starts construction of the solar furnace then we turn our energy to the basement and begin transforming it into LAN Central.  We've already got volunteers to help out with the wiring (...5 breakers should do it, no?..)  We'll keep you posted on our progress.  Hope to have it all done by BTM19!
