Okay, okay! You can all stop with the flame mail! I know there's not been an update to the LAN Minutes in over a week, but those who know me are well aware I've been busy with work, doing presentations on "Power lack of Point", cleaning up blood from cats, drinking beer, watching hockey, eating pizza, re-arranging the media room, fixing furnaces, hosting BTM22 (...now over...), trying to keep pace with CorpsE and his posts on the Abattoir BBs, drinking beer (...did I mention that one?!..) If you're at all sensitive, you can see the hell I'm trapped in. This is not an official update, just a quick note to let you all know we're still alive at the Abattoir. BTM23's date has been set, and needless to say, even without an announcement of the date, it's sold out again with stacks of peeps on the waiting list (...time to open the upstairs again and go for a 48 person LAN Party!?..) Thanks for a great BTM22, we've got planning out the ying-yang going on for BTM23 "Tournament Edition" (...sounds painful...) and it's shaping up great! I keep saying I'm going to get "caught up" on the Abattoir, so I've booked this Friday off for the sole purpose of working on the site and updating things like the Profiles Page (...take a peek at Hasmed's...) and the Minutes as well as adding some new features that will make the BTMs a little more customized (...you'll have to wait till Friday on that one...) Bare with us, we hate posting updates when there's little to say <GriN!> As for SuperBowl... Yes, we're hosting a little romp, would love to see you there! Let us know if you're interested in joining us for the game (...again, there's a chance Beer's involved...)

Well isn't this a fine kettle of fish!? Seems tonight we're falling into a cold weather advisory with temperatures plummeting to -18c (...a comfortable -30c with the wind chill...) and of all things, my "new" Super Efficiency Carrier Furnace decides it's had enough after a short 3 year life and friggin' quits on me! Great to come home and smell burning blower motor throughout the house. I opened her up and gave the squirrel drum a spin, closed it up and let it go through it's cycle check... Everything seemed okay to the onboard so it flamed (...funny, my furnace takes longer to "boot" than my computer, guess you could call this a "cold boot"...) Go upstairs to have a beer to warm up (...hey, to each his own!..) Ten minutes pass and I decide to check it again, sure enough, gone for good! Checked with our OakPark rep to see if there's a warranty and he tells me it was only two years, not only that, but his Carrier furnace motor just went on him last month! (...also three years old...) Guess after the warranty clock expires on these new high tech Carrier Funaces, the onboard computer sends the "short out rotor brushes" command to the blower motor. Thank God for natural gas sealed fireplaces... Not the most efficient way to heat a home, but better than sleeping with a hairdryer under the sheets (...guess that's why they have that warning on the package saying "do not sleep with hairdryer in bed"...) Never fear, we'll have the heat back on by "BTM22 BammBammBirthdayBash Edition". (...I wonder if Cable's wired into my furnace? Could Cogeco have something to do with this?..)
Guess it's safe to say the Abattoir's new BBs is a success... If you've not checked it out, hit the BBs button above (...come on, you know you want to!..) and sign-up! We want to hear from you... You're not going to let CorpsE do all the posting, are you?!

Happy New Year! I'm told we had a good time! <GriN!>
Let the pissing match begin! "In this corner in red tights, MeatMan! Weighing in at 155 pounds of lean, mean pissing machine... and in the other corner, Cogeco Cable Inc.! Weighting in at $127.76 overweight!" Looks like the "Internet People" don't want to return my money. This morning I called Customer Support and spoke to Mario (...who was very helpful...) but unable to resolve my situation regarding the overbilling I've incurred from their Internet division. He asked that I fire another "explanation" to the Support people directly... The following was just sent:

Good evening...
Around June 20th I placed a call to Customer Service regarding the additional IP's I've had on my Internet account (Acct.#: 70601-xxxxx-xx-x-xx) stating that I would no longer require them, I was told they would be turned off. As my girlfriend pays the bills over the Internet, it has only recently come to my attention after spotting an open Cogeco bill on the desk that the "Add'l Computer $19.90" charge was still showing on my statement. I went back through all statements since I cancelled the service and have found that it in fact has never been removed.
I dropped a quick note to Cogeco asking that this billing be corrected (...as it stands, that's $127.76 overbilling I've incurred to date...) I was responded to quickly from Operator 55, she stated I would have to call in person as credits can not be issued through email. My next bill came in with the $19.90 charge finally removed, but no correction issued.
Just this morning I spoke with Operator 768 (...Mario, who if I may say was very professional and helpful...) Mario has spent the better part of today running back and forth between the "Internet People" and his department to resolve, however he was unable to credit my account. Mario called myself at home this evening to inform me the Internet people said "the charge is clearly printed on his bill, it's not hidden, why did it take six months for him to call?" and he suggested that I approach with another email to you so that we can have this issue resolved.
You're own logs show I called your Support Department (...and it wasn't to ask when the next episode of Summer Slam was coming...), so at this point it comes down to my word as I understand it? (...at least, that's the way it appears to me...) I've been a customer of Cogeco's for some time now and have been with you during the hype of your High Speed Cable since the beginning (...and I don't need to remind you how much "tolerance" that encompasses considering the rocky start cables had with its bandwidth overbooking, transition to digital, move to @Home and all the revamping that's gone on over the last two years...) By my own praise of your service over these years I've convinced a mass number of people to get connected with you. My account as it stands has been overbilled by $127.76, I trust you'll take care of this matter with no further intervention required on my part, I don't care to have my integrity challenged by my local cable supplier.
Thank you in advance for your understanding, I look forward to my next statement.
Regards,
Craig Milton

All I have to say at this point is "Don't make me come down there." As before, I'll keep you all informed as to whether Cogeco "Does the right thing" or not... For now, we're all off to watch the Leaf's game on our fuzzy cable picture!
