Hi guys.

My vista laptop keeps popping up with free disk space errors all of a sudden.

no recent changes to anything.

i wiped it down to 2.08gb free and now it's at 2.02 and i haven't done fuck all and it's been less than 30 minutes.

checked backup and restore center and it's empty/disabled.

the C:/ is what's filling up.

i use spybot s&d, avg free, spyware blaster, and malwarebytes, and ccleaner.

baffled, any suggestions? google isn't helping too much.

Well, the first thing I would say is to get rid of Vista and go back to XP if you're sucking for that much room.

...otherwise check your event log and see what is going on. Run Crap Cleaner...see what the fallout is. Is it on the Internet? Could be auto-updating...

You could disable the system restore, that takes up considerable space. right click my computer, system restore tab. then defrag.

another option for spyware/virus scan and real time protection is www.microsoft.com/security_essentials . free, updated frequently and not a resource hog on my XP rig or Vista HTPC. MS has considerable resources for finding the latest malware/viruses on the net and designing protection.

Security Essentials gets my vote too. Impressive stuff from Microsoft.
